A Mais Recôndita Memória dos Homens

A Mais Recôndita Memória dos Homens (The Most Secret Memory of Men) by the awarded writer Mohamed Mbougar Sarr is a novel about the choice between living and writing, and the desire to transcend the divide between Africa and the West. Above all, it is an ode to literature and its timelessness.

I was hired to illustrate the Brazillian version of this book published by Fósforo. The main idea behind this cover, as it’s a book about investigation and has many events, is for the reader to also be able to investigate while reading.
In the illustration, there are things that are well exposed, such as the twin brothers who fight and live in different worlds, separated here by the spine, or hidden things like the critics who died mysteriously.
